Works where others break

Real forms are messy.

Autofill knows a dozen field types. Real forms ask questions in sentences, inside modals, editors and chat bots. FormPilot reads what each field is asking: its label, help text, constraints and options.

  • React, Vue & Angular inputs Inserts with native editing commands, so the framework sees a real input.
  • Rich-text editors Fallbacks for contenteditable editors that ignore normal input.
  • Modals, drawers & overlays Renders in the browser's top layer, mounted inside the popup so it never closes it.
  • Chat questionnaires Reads the recruiter bot's latest question and refreshes after every reply.

Learns from you

Correct it once. It remembers.

Type your own answer where a suggestion was wrong and FormPilot asks to remember it. That question is then answered instantly, everywhere, with no AI call.

Short answers become key facts; long ones go into your saved answers. Choose Ask me, Save automatically, or Off.

Speed on repeats

Most answers never wait for AI.

Each field asks four layers in order. The first three answer in milliseconds; the AI only writes what's genuinely new, and streams it.

Memory

Grounded in your documents.

Upload a resume (PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD, CSV, JSON or HTML) or write notes. Files are parsed on your computer and key facts are pulled out, ready to edit.

Small memories are sent whole; bigger ones use hybrid search (BM25 and embeddings, fused) so only what matters for a field is used.

AI providers

Costs nothing to run.

Providers are tried top to bottom with automatic fallback, retries and backoff. Turn on local-only mode and nothing leaves your machine.

Google Gemini Free tier Cloud Recommended default
Chrome built-in AI Free On device Gemini Nano, Chrome 138+
OpenRouter Free models Cloud Auto-router or any :free model
Groq Free tier Cloud Very fast inference
Ollama Free Your machine One-click local models
LM Studio · OpenAI-compatible Varies Either Any /chat/completions endpoint
Privacy

Fills forms. Not secrets.

  • Never reads, sends or fills passwords, card numbers, CVV, OTP or 2FA codes, CAPTCHAs, PINs, government IDs or bank details.
  • Secrets in your memory are redacted before sending.
  • Memory lives in this browser. Only the excerpts relevant to a field go to the provider you chose.
  • Never submits a form or ticks a consent box. Block or pause it per site.
Your API keys are password-protected.

Keys are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, from a key derived with PBKDF2-SHA256 at 600,000 iterations. Seeing, changing or removing a key asks for your password, which is never stored. Keys are never synced or exported.

Strict mode locks them again after every browser restart.

Questions

Good to know.

Is it free?

Yes. FormPilot is open source under MIT, and it runs on free AI tiers (Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter), Chrome's built-in AI, or fully local models through Ollama.

What gets sent to the AI?

Only the field's question and the few parts of your memory relevant to it, and only to the provider you chose. Key facts, saved answers and cached answers never need an AI call at all. Local-only mode never leaves your machine.

Will it fill passwords or card numbers?

Never. It doesn't read, send or fill passwords, card numbers, CVV, OTP or 2FA codes, CAPTCHAs, PINs, government IDs or bank details, and secrets in your memory are redacted before anything is sent.

Does it submit forms for me?

No. It fills, you review and submit. Consent checkboxes are never ticked.

Why isn't it on the Chrome Web Store?

Not yet. It installs in a minute with Load unpacked from the release zip, and the source is on GitHub.

Does it work in Brave?

Yes, everything except Chrome's built-in AI, which Brave doesn't ship; FormPilot skips it automatically.

Changelog
v1.0.0 · 23 Oct 2026

FormPilot 1.0.0

  • Suggestions under every field: a dropdown anchored to the focused field, with several options tagged Memory / History / AI / Cached, streaming output, and Regenerate · Shorter · Longer · Refine…
  • The AI decides the answer length from the question and the field; it always respects maxlength.
  • Whole-form fill in one request (Alt+Shift+J), with Undo. Passwords, cards, OTPs, CAPTCHAs and consent checkboxes are never touched.
  • Memory: upload PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD, CSV, JSON or HTML (parsed locally), or write notes. Key facts are extracted automatically. Hybrid BM25 + embedding retrieval with reciprocal-rank fusion.
